Minister Park Neung-hoo Receives Flu Vaccine... "Please Trust Expert Judgment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the 27th, Park Neung-hoo, Minister of Health and Welfare, visited a clinic-level medical institution in Sejong City and received an influenza (flu) vaccination. This was to calm the public's concerns about the flu vaccine, which had been embroiled in a series of controversies such as exposure to room temperature, discovery of white particles, and deaths following vaccination.
Minister Park, who is 64 years old this year, received the vaccination on the second day of free vaccination for those aged 62 to 69. After completing the vaccination, Minister Park stayed at the medical institution for 20 minutes to monitor for any adverse reactions, following safe vaccination protocols.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Minister Park's vaccination aims to emphasize the safety of government-procured flu vaccine vaccinations and the necessity of flu vaccination in preparation for the possible simultaneous outbreak of influenza and COVID-19.
Minister Park said, "I apologize for the anxiety and concerns of the public regarding the recent flu vaccine vaccinations," adding, "However, excessive fear and misinformation, as seen during the COVID-19 prevention process, can rather undermine our safety."
