Hana Financial Investment, EDGC Convertible Bond Subscription募集
October 28-29: Two-Day Recruitment Worth 60 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Hana Financial Investment announced on the 27th that it will open a general public subscription for convertible bonds (CB) of Eone Diagnomics Genome Center (hereinafter EDGC), a genome analysis and liquid biopsy diagnostics company, for two days starting from the 28th.
EDGC is a genome analysis and liquid biopsy diagnostics company listed on the KOSDAQ market in 2018. Hana Financial Investment is the lead underwriter for the convertible bonds issued by EDGC, totaling 60 billion KRW. This convertible bond public subscription is the first to be conducted through a general public offering among bio companies.
The conversion price of the convertible bonds is set at 13,300 KRW, and in the event of a stock price decline, the conversion price can be lowered by up to 20%. The maturity is 3 years, and conversion to stocks is possible starting one month after issuance. If the bonds are held without conversion to stocks, early redemption of principal and interest can be requested every 3 months after one year. There is no coupon interest, and the guaranteed yield at maturity is 1.0% per annum (compounded quarterly).
Convertible bonds are bonds with the right to convert into stocks, and if the stock price rises significantly above the conversion price after acquiring the convertible bonds, investors can convert and sell the stocks to gain profits. Convertible bonds are listed and can be traded directly as bonds. Additionally, if the stock price is lower than the conversion price, investors can request redemption at maturity or early redemption date, making it an investment product that combines the advantages of both stocks and bonds. However, convertible bond investments are not protected by deposit insurance.
Kim Hyung-wook, Head of Corporate Finance at Hana Financial Investment, said that as general investors' interest in bio companies has recently increased, leading to active investments, the convertible bonds offered by Hana Financial Investment have the advantages of both stocks and bonds and are expected to present a new paradigm for bio company investments.
