People Power Party: "Even the 100th measure won't work... Better to dismiss Kim Hyun-mi and Hong Nam-ki"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] In response to the government's announcement that it will soon release the 24th real estate measure, the "Jeonse Measure," the People Power Party demanded the replacement of Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi, stating, "Even if they come up with the 100th measure, it will only betray the people."
Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the People Power Party, pointed out in a statement on the 26th, "It seems they are in a hurry to release something because public sentiment looks unstable ahead of the by-elections."
She criticized, "Promises made by the Moon Jae-in administration before elections were always only for that time. This is why we cannot place any expectations this time either," adding, "During the last general election, they promised to ease the comprehensive real estate tax burden for one-homeowners but changed their stance immediately after the election ended, and they have abandoned the 'public rental housing pledge,' leaving ordinary citizens out on the streets."
Regarding Minister Kim's remark at the National Assembly audit on the 16th that "if landlords and tenants wisely come together, Jeonse prices will stabilize," Kim's spokesperson said, "It sounds like an answer from a dream world," and criticized, "With this perception, even if they release the 24th or 100th measure, it will only betray the people and become a 'measure without a measure.'"

She added, "If they cannot provide comfort or solutions, they should rather replace the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Deputy Prime Minister," concluding, "That would be the only real estate policy reflecting the voices of the people."
