This promotional and sales event was planned to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and expand the domestic distribution channels for Wando seafood processed products.
For three days, at the main store of ‘Jeju Kim Man-bok’ located in Ora-dong, Jeju City, a free tasting and giveaway event of Wando seafood processed products was held for customers purchasing gimbap, receiving a positive response.
Jeju Kim Man-bok has become popular, heating up social media with its abalone gimbap, attracting more than 10% of the 15 million annual tourists.
The representative menu of Kim Man-bok, abalone gimbap, is characterized by seasoning the abalone innards, finely chopping the flesh and stir-frying it with rice, then placing thick egg and rice on laver lightly coated with savory sesame oil, shaped into a square.
The main ingredients of the gimbap, abalone and laver, are from Wando. Heungil Food (CEO Kim Do-hwan), a laver export company located in the Wando Agricultural and Industrial Complex, has been exclusively supplying gimbap laver to Jeju Kim Man-bok’s gimbap since last year.
In particular, only laver produced in Neopdo, Nohwa-eup, Wando-gun, known for its excellent taste and quality, is provided, enhancing the flavor of the gimbap even more.
Wando abalone grows by feeding on kelp and seaweed from the clean sea, rich in various vitamins, iron, calcium, potassium, and protein, making it an unparalleled nutritious food.
Meanwhile, Jeju Kim Man-bok, which opened in 2015, currently operates four stores in Jeju and two in Seoul.
CEO Lee Ban-seok of Jeju Kim Man-bok said, “We are dedicated not only to gimbap using the freshest and safest Wando seafood in Korea but also to developing and marketing menus such as pizza, noodles, and fried dishes,” adding, “We will continue to build a close cooperative relationship with Wando-gun and strive for mutual growth.”
