[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The prosecution investigating the Optimus Asset Management fund fraud case is summoning and questioning a Daishin Securities official who was directly involved in selling the fund.
The Economic Crime Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Joo Min-cheol) is currently questioning Mr. A, a manager-level employee who was in charge of fund product planning at Daishin Securities, as a witness.
From 2017 to 2018, Daishin Securities sold approximately 83 billion KRW worth of the 106 billion KRW invested by the Korea Communications Agency in the Optimus fund.
The investigation team is reportedly verifying with Mr. A the circumstances under which Daishin Securities sold the Optimus fund and whether there were any lobbying or illicit solicitations during the process.
