'Jongno Urban Master Plan 2100 Kickoff Meeting' Successfully Held... Attendees Reflect on the Past 100 Years, Diagnose the Present, and Agree on the Need for Urban Planning to Envision the Next 100 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) has determined that a long-term urban plan looking ahead 100 years is necessary to contemplate and create the future of the area together with residents, and has been promoting the 'Jongno Urban Basic Plan 2100' since August this year.
Accordingly, on the 22nd, the district office held the 'Jongno Urban Basic Plan 2100 Establishment Service Commencement Report Meeting' in the planning situation room.
The commencement report meeting proceeded in the order of progress report, awarding certificates of appointment to the chief planner and expert advisory group, the commencement report on the Jongno Urban Basic Plan 2100, advisory, and discussion.
To successfully promote the 'Jongno Urban Basic Plan 2100,' a ceremony was held to appoint 12 field-specific expert advisors in five areas including 'Urban & Transportation,' 'History, Culture & Tourism,' 'Welfare, Education & Women,' 'Economy, Industry & Jobs,' and 'Environment & Safety,' including Professor Shin Jung-jin of the Department of Architecture at Sungkyunkwan University as the chief planner.
Additionally, it was announced that the service contents consist of the current status and condition analysis of Jongno-gu, policy trends by field, and the direction and method of task execution regarding the future vision and key issues (draft) of Jongno-gu.
Through this report meeting, all attendees empathized with the necessity of an urban plan that reviews the past 100 years of Jongno, diagnoses the present, and forecasts the future for the next 100 years.
Subsequently, Jongno-gu plans to actively proceed with establishing a systematic and feasible detailed plan together with resident participation groups and field experts based on the matters discussed at the commencement report meeting. This is to discover region-customized projects that many residents can agree on and to complete the blueprint for development.
Meanwhile, the Jongno Urban Basic Plan 2100, which is being promoted across the entire administrative district, is a 'comprehensive plan that serves as the basis for policy planning in all fields of Jongno-gu.'
It broadly covers the physical spatial sector reflecting regional characteristics (land, housing, transportation, infrastructure, etc.) and the non-physical sector (economy, industry, environment, energy, society, culture, welfare, etc.), and is expected to contribute to establishing a long-term framework for the future direction of Jongno-gu.
