Jeonju's First Hydrogen Refueling Station 'Songcheon Charging Station' Completion Ceremony on the 26th... 52nd Operation Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The first hydrogen charging station in Jeonju City has been established and is now operational.
The Ministry of Environment announced on the 25th, "The Songcheon Charging Station in Jeonju City, promoted as a private subsidy project to revitalize the hydrogen economy and expand the distribution of hydrogen vehicles, has been completed."
The completion ceremony and unveiling event for the Songcheon Charging Station will be held at 4 p.m. on the 26th. Attendees include Hong Jeong-gi, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Environment; Kim Seung-su, Mayor of Jeonju City; Kang Dong-hwa, Chairman of Jeonju City Council; Woo Beom-gi, Political Deputy Governor of Jeonbuk Province; Moon Jeong-hoon, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company; and Yoo Jong-su, President of Hydrogen Energy Network.
The Songcheon Charging Station is the 52nd charging station to operate nationwide. It is expected that more than 100 stations will be operational nationwide by the first half of next year.
With a total investment of 3 billion KRW, the Songcheon Charging Station is the first hydrogen charging station established and operated in Jeonju City.
This project is a model case of cooperation among related institutions (local government - operator - landowner) through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), collaborating from land use to permits and installation work.
The station has a charging capacity of 250 kg per day, capable of charging 12 buses or 60 passenger cars.
According to the Green New Deal promotion plan, the Ministry of Environment plans to establish a total of 310 charging stations by 2022, including 250 stations in urban areas and 60 on highways.

Vice Minister Hong Jeong-gi stated, "It is urgent to expand hydrogen charging stations so that citizens do not experience inconvenience when using hydrogen vehicles," and added, "To this end, we will further strengthen cooperation among government, local governments, and operators."
