Trump Expresses Difficulty in Securing Senate Majority Seats in This Election
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] It has been revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump expressed concerns that the Republican Party is likely to lose its majority status in the Senate election held alongside the presidential election on November 3.
The Washington Post (WP) reported on the 24th (local time), citing an anonymous attendee, that President Trump made these remarks at a private fundraising event held on the 22nd at the Marriott Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the time, President Trump reportedly said, "The Senate is going to be very difficult (to win). The Senate is very tough." He added, "There are some (Republican) senators I don't want to be associated with. I absolutely can't do that," and "Being associated with them is like losing my soul, so I cannot support some senators. I don't want to support them either."
However, the anonymous attendee said that Trump predicted the Republican Party would regain the majority of seats in the House of Representatives.
