7 Decomposed Bodies Found in Fertilizer Container in Paraguay... Authorities Suspect Illegal Immigration
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] Seven bodies presumed to be illegal immigrants were found in a fertilizer container in Paraguay. The container had been in transit for about three months, and only three days' worth of food and water were found inside.
According to Paraguayan authorities, on the 23rd (local time), a representative from the company that purchased the fertilizer discovered the bodies inside the container and reported it to the police.
All the deceased were adults, and the bodies were already severely decomposed when found.
Among them, two were found to have Moroccan identification cards.
Additionally, the police found Serbian taxi receipts at the scene, suggesting that they boarded the container in Serbia and traveled inside it.
On one side of the container, clothing bags, three days' worth of water, and canned food were discovered.
Investigations revealed that the container left Serbia on July 21, passed through Argentina, and only recently arrived at the outskirts of the Paraguay capital, Asuncion, near the river estuary, about three months later.
Paraguayan authorities presume that the individuals died during the illegal immigration process.
The police stated, "They departed from their home country, arrived in Serbia, and planned to travel to a closer area, but it is presumed they died due to miscalculating the distance."
