Democratic Party Approval Rating Rises 3.1%p to 35.3%... "Support Base Consolidation" [Realmeter]
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The support rate for the Democratic Party of Korea, which had dropped by more than 3 percentage points last week, rebounded in just one week and rose again to the mid-30% range.
According to Realmeter's announcement on the 22nd, based on a survey conducted from the 19th to the 21st commissioned by tbs, the Democratic Party's support rate was 35.3%, up 3.1 percentage points from the previous week. Meanwhile, the People Power Party recorded 27.3%, up 2.3 percentage points.
The gap between the two parties' support rates widened to 8.0 percentage points, moving outside the margin of error (±2.5 percentage points) again in just one week.
The Democratic Party saw particularly large increases among progressives (up 10.4 percentage points), Seoul residents (up 6.6 percentage points), and people in their 20s (up 8.1 percentage points). Realmeter analyzed that the Democratic Party's support rate, which had sharply declined last week due to allegations involving former Blue House Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Kang Ki-jung and other ruling party figures in the Lime and Optimus scandals, rebounded thanks to the consolidation of its support base.
Other parties showed the following support rates: Open Democratic Party 7.3%, People’s Party 6.6%, and Justice Party 5.5%.
President Moon Jae-in's approval rating for his administration was 46.3%, up 0.5 percentage points from the previous week. Negative evaluations dropped by 1.4 percentage points to 48.6%. The gap between positive and negative evaluations was 2.3 percentage points, within the margin of error.
