Minister Kang Kyung-wha Talks with Swedish Foreign Minister... Requests Support for Director General You Myung-hee
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 21st, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha had a phone call with Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde to discuss △ the development of bilateral relations △ response to COVID-19 △ cooperation measures on the international stage, including the selection of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General.
During the call, Minister Kang requested Sweden's support for Yoo Myung-hee, the Chief Negotiator for Trade, who advanced to the final round of the WTO Director-General selection, and Minister Linde evaluated Chief Negotiator Yoo's expertise and outstanding capabilities.
The two ministers assessed the active exchange of high-level officials commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year and agreed to strengthen cooperation in the health sector, including COVID-19 response and vaccine development.
