(CEO Kim Hee-jong), which developed the 'Multipurpose Wildfire Suppression Fire Truck,' was selected for the highest award, the Presidential Award, at the '12th Fire Industry Awards.'
Hosted by the National Fire Agency and organized by the Fire Industry Technology Institute, the Fire Industry Awards recognize individuals and organizations that have successfully commercialized new technologies. The award ceremony will be held on the 22nd at the National Fire Agency.
This year, a total of 47 entries were submitted for the Fire Industry Awards. Six awards, including the Presidential Citation, will be given in the industrial technology category, and five awards, including the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award and the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency Award, will be presented in the facility safety and academic research categories, respectively.
The Multipurpose Wildfire Suppression Fire Truck, which received the Presidential Citation, was robustly manufactured using lightweight aluminum profiles to facilitate mountain driving, tailored to Korea's mountainous terrain. It was evaluated as a reasonable-priced alternative to imported vehicles, which had high purchase and repair costs and long repair periods, enabling faster repairs.
The Prime Minister's Citation was awarded to LG Hausys Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Gye-woong), which developed the 'Semi-Noncombustible Sheet.' This sheet is an interior product with semi-noncombustible performance and is the first in Korea to use a roll format, making storage and installation more convenient.
Yuksong Co., Ltd. (CEO Shin Kyung-rim), which developed the 'Anti-Twist Fire Hose Using Connectors,' also received the Prime Minister's Citation. Generally, once a fire hose is connected, the hose itself cannot be rotated, but this product improves the situation by attaching two anti-twist connectors, allowing twisted fire hoses to naturally untwist even under low pressure.
The Minister of the Interior and Safety Award was given to Michang Co., Ltd. (CEO Hwang Geum) for developing the 'Wireless Automated Fire Detection System' in the industrial technology category; Korea Land and Housing Corporation (CEO Byun Chang-heum) for developing the 'LH Water-Based Fire Extinguishing System Repair Analysis Program' in the facility safety category; and graduate student Kim Sang-sik from Woosuk University for researching the 'Video Output Evacuation Guide Light Linked with Smoke Detectors' in the academic research category.
