In an interview with CBS Radio's 'Sisa Jaki Jeong Gwan-yong,' Kim's brother said, "How could there be an illness unknown even to the family when no common cold medicine was found at the deceased's home?"
He added, "If my brother had an illness, he would have taken medicine, but to say 'he had an illness' when there was nothing like that is, in my view, disrespectful to the deceased. It is also unfair to the living bereaved family."
He continued, "I often talked on the phone with my brother. Even if I called in the morning, he said he was busy, and calls in the afternoon or evening were also brief, saying he was busy," adding, "I even called him after 10 p.m., and he said he was still delivering and hadn't gone home yet."
It was reported that the deceased, four days before his death on the 8th, at 4:28 a.m., told a colleague, "I took out 420 (packages) today and am now heading home," expressing distress over work continuing until dawn.
Kim's brother said, "He took out 420 packages and was delivering past 4 a.m., but he couldn't finish all of them and returned home," adding, "It seems to carry many meanings, and I feel sorrow and guilt. Those words keep coming to mind, making it hard for me to compose myself. Our mother is also not in good condition now. After losing her son, she is currently receiving hospital treatment."
He said, "I am very angry after seeing articles distributed by Hanjin. They talk about things that never happened, and I feel wronged by that," raising his voice, "Since these (delivery worker) death incidents keep happening, I think structural improvements are necessary."
Earlier, the Delivery Workers Overwork Death Countermeasures Committee (Countermeasures Committee) held a press conference in front of Hanjin Taekbae headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, regarding Kim's death, who was found dead at home.
