Trilateral Korea-US-Japan Women's Empowerment Meeting from 20th to 23rd... Discussing Enhanced Cooperation in STEM Fields
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The 2nd ROK-US-Japan Women’s Empowerment Trilateral Conference (Summit on Women’s Leadership in STEM) will be held online from the 20th to the 23rd (Korean time).
The three countries, South Korea, the United States, and Japan, agreed to hold regular meetings through a joint statement following the 1st conference in September 2016.
At this conference, Lee Sung-ho, Director General for Economic Diplomacy Coordination from Korea, Kelly Currie, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues from the United States, and Atsuko Nishimura, Ambassador for Women’s Issues from Japan, will each attend as the senior government representatives. On the private sector side, about 30 panelists including academics and women entrepreneurs from the three countries will participate.
At this meeting, the three countries plan to share their experiences and best practices on expanding women’s participation in the STEM fields, and discuss ways to enhance trilateral cooperation in this area together with private sectors such as academia and women entrepreneurs in STEM.
