Virus Not Detected, On-Site Campaign Resumes
[Asia Economy International Desk Reporter] After suspending her campaign due to a staff member testing positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), U.S. Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is resuming her campaign schedule after four days.
On the 17th (local time), according to U.S. political media outlet The Hill, Joe Biden's presidential campaign announced that Harris will return to campaigning on the 19th, visiting Orlando and Jacksonville in Florida.
Harris underwent a COVID-19 test on the 16th after her staff member tested positive, and it was reported that she received a 'negative' result. During this period, she canceled in-person campaigning and conducted virtual campaign events. Originally, Harris planned to visit key battleground states including North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas from the 15th to the 18th.
Harris's visit to Florida is timed to coincide with the early voting starting on the 19th. Florida is one of the six major battleground states this year (Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, Wisconsin) and has the largest number of presidential electors at 29.
