(CEO Lee Sang-seop), an electronics parts manufacturing company, as part of the 27th on-site visit for the people’s economy, to encourage workers and listen to difficulties in business operations.
Newseokwang Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement (MOU) worth 30 billion KRW with Gwangju City in May last year and relocated from Jangseong to the Gwangju Hanam Industrial Complex in January this year.
The company specializes in manufacturing parts for household appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners and is a promising small and medium-sized enterprise with annual sales of 82 billion KRW.
In particular, as a first-tier partner of Samsung Electronics, sales have steadily increased due to increased domestic production following the withdrawal of Samsung Electronics’ overseas factories caused by COVID-19.
Last month, it was also selected as a ‘9th Premium Small Giant Company,’ a program where Gwangju City selects and provides focused support to excellent local companies.
Currently, the first factory is newly established and operational, and the second factory is under construction with the goal of completion by the end of this year. Gwangju City expects that the completion of the second factory will create about 150 jobs and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
During the visit, Mayor Lee Yong-seop toured the production line to encourage on-site workers and held a meeting to listen to difficulties related to business operations, the construction of the second factory, and requests for support.
Newseokwang Co., Ltd., in the process of recruiting personnel due to the construction of the second factory, requested solutions to recruitment difficulties caused by the avoidance of manufacturing SMEs, expanded support for product research and development (R&D), subsidies for investment attraction to facilitate smooth initial settlement of relocated companies, and improvements to the industrial complex environment.
Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “Despite difficult management conditions such as COVID-19, I appreciate the company for relocating and creating much-needed jobs in our region and contributing to the revitalization of the local economy,” adding, “We will actively support Newseokwang Co., Ltd. to establish a strong foundation that leads the local economy through proactive communication and cooperation.”
Lee Sang-seop, CEO of Newseokwang Co., Ltd., expressed his determination, saying, “After coming to Gwangju and doing business here, I believe relocating to Gwangju was a good decision,” and “We will lead the company to become an excellent SME that other companies cannot follow through continuous technological and managerial innovation.”
