Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance Donates 20 Million KRW to Support Pediatric Cancer Patients
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance, a financial affiliate of Taekwang Group, announced on the 15th that it has delivered a donation to the Korea Leukemia Pediatric Cancer Association to help children with pediatric cancer.
Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance raised a total of 20 million KRW in donations through contributions from its executives and employees to support the treatment of pediatric cancer patients. The collected funds will be used to provide cancer treatment expenses and prepare support kits as gifts. Along with the donation, the executives and employees also wrote handwritten letters wishing for the speedy recovery of the children with pediatric cancer.
The number of children under 15 years old suffering from cancer is steadily increasing. Five new pediatric cancer patients are diagnosed daily, but the survival rate is 70-80%. The cure rate can be improved through active treatment.
A Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance official said, "We hope to be of some help in improving the cure and quality of life of children suffering from pediatric cancer in an environment made even more difficult by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19)."
