On the same day, Joo said on CBS Radio’s ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,’ “The people will trust only if the special investigation team formed by Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol is promptly entrusted with the case or if a special prosecution is conducted to reveal the truth,” adding, “Who would believe this when the referee and the player are on the same side?”
Joo also said, “It is unacceptable to leave the investigation to the prosecution led by Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae. Moreover, Democratic Party leaders Lee Nak-yeon and Kim Tae-nyeon tend to downplay the issue, saying it is nothing significant,” and added, “Currently, the names of powerful figures are being mentioned, and there is clear evidence that these influential figures have met.”
Regarding Prosecutor General Yoon’s request to reinforce the investigation team, Joo said, “Reinforcement alone will not suffice,” and “Since the prosecution conducts investigations under strict hierarchical command, who is responsible for the investigation is the most important.”
On North Korea’s large-scale unveiling of new strategic weapons such as intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), Joo stated, “When Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, refers to ‘beloved compatriots in the South,’ it is similar to a robber showing a knife at his waist and telling you not to worry,” adding, “They have long crossed the red line.”
Regarding internal party conflicts, Joo said, “There are none at all,” and added, “Isn’t it natural that not everyone can move in perfect unison on every issue?”
Joo acknowledged that “some party members and lawmakers raise concerns about a lack of communication regarding the leadership of the Emergency Response Committee,” but he believes there is no problem with the committee’s direction.
