President of NongHyup Central Association Visits ASF Outbreak Site and Urges Strengthened Quarantine Measures
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] On the 13th, Lee Sung-hee, Chairman of the NongHyup Central Association, visited the Gangwon Chuncheon-Cheorwon-Hwacheon-Yanggu Livestock Cooperative, which is conducting quarantine activities to prevent the spread and early termination of African Swine Fever (ASF) recently occurring on farms, to inspect the site and encourage the executives and employees.
At the meeting, Chairman Lee discussed quarantine measures with quarantine officials and emphasized, "Since the ASF virus is continuously detected in wild boars, additional outbreaks can occur at any time like this time, so farms must strictly adhere to basic quarantine rules such as thorough disinfection and prohibition of entry by outsiders and vehicles." He also urged to do their best to block ASF by mobilizing all NongHyup quarantine capabilities.

To achieve the early termination of the recently reoccurred ASF, NongHyup supported 175,000 bags of quicklime to 358 farms in the northern Gyeonggi and Gangwon regions, and expanded the disinfection activities of the joint quarantine team in the affected areas from once a week to more than once a day. They also strengthened quarantine by additionally deploying three wide-area disinfecting machines (two in Hwacheon, one in Pocheon), and plan to continue guiding livestock farms on quarantine rules and promoting avoidance of contact with wild boars.
