Kim Jong-in: "We Must Maintain Tension After the General Election... No Issues with the Primary Preparation Committee"
Distribution of Standing Committee Chair Positions "Initial Intentions Must Be Maintained for a Certain Period"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Kim Jong-in, the Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, denied reports on the 13th that he expressed concerns to the emergency committee saying, "If we continue like this, it will be difficult to win future elections," stating, "I never said we would lose the election."
After the appointment ceremony of the by-election primary preparation committee at the National Assembly that day, Chairman Kim told reporters, "We must maintain the tension we had after the April 15 general election, and I said we should not become complacent," explaining his remarks.
Regarding the formation process of the primary preparation committee, Chairman Kim said, "There is no way there was any noise. From my perspective, the names were exposed to the media even before the appointments were finalized, so people judged it that way, but in reality, there was no noise in the actual appointment process."
On the criticism that members of the primary preparation committee should not run as candidates in the by-election, Chairman Kim said, "Isn't it common sense that those who have declared their candidacy themselves should not be allowed to join when setting the rules?"
Regarding the issue of the distribution of standing committee chair positions, which the People Power Party had given up on, Chairman Kim stated, "When the circle was first formed, that initial intention should be maintained for a certain period."
