[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] KCC, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, carried out a mural painting volunteer activity to brighten and beautify the atmosphere of low-rise residential areas.
Recently, as part of the low-rise residential environment improvement project "On溫 Neighborhood to the Forest" in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, KCC conducted a mural painting volunteer activity in Bukgajwa-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, in our neighborhood. About 20 members of KCC's in-house volunteer group, the "KCC Happiness Sharing Volunteer Group," participated in the event.
The volunteer group painted a mural with the concept of "A swarm of butterflies visiting a succulent plant garden," bringing vitality to the neighborhood. Under the clear autumn sky, the volunteers worked hard, and the green energy filled through the mural brightened the atmosphere of the neighborhood. Green is known to have psychological effects that calm stress and intense emotions and reduce eye fatigue.
An employee of the KCC Happiness Sharing Volunteer Group who participated in the mural painting activity said, "Through various social contribution activities, we feel both the corporate social responsibility and a sense of fulfillment," adding, "It was a proud and meaningful experience to see KCC paint breathe new life into the neighborhood and the residents satisfied with it."
KCC's eco-friendly paint "Forest Well-being" was used in the mural painting activity. Forest Well-being is an eco-friendly paint certified with the Atopy Safety Mark and the HB (Healthy Building material) mark, an eco-friendly building material certification. Since it is paint applied to residents' living spaces, it is not only eco-friendly but also has excellent color expression, maintaining vivid colors for a long time.
The On溫 Neighborhood project conducted by KCC and the Seoul Metropolitan Government is a resident-participatory regeneration project, making it significant as a collaboration between private companies and social welfare NGOs. The Seoul Metropolitan Government, Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, Low-rise Residential Regeneration Project Group, and private companies have signed a four-party business agreement to promote activities for improving the environment of low-rise residential areas.
A KCC official said, "We are very pleased to participate in social contribution activities that create a better society together," and added, "We will continue to make efforts in various ways by carrying out social contribution activities that can promote residents' living safety through residential environment improvement."

Meanwhile, the On (溫) Neighborhood to the Forest project is part of the "Managed Residential Environment Improvement Project" promoted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government since 2011, aiming to improve poor low-rise residential areas in Seoul into safe and pleasant environments. In this project, KCC has improved old houses using major building materials such as flooring, windows, and insulation materials, in addition to mural painting. Through housing improvement activities, the energy efficiency of buildings has increased, reducing heating and cooling costs and improving the living conditions of vulnerable residents.
