[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The U.S. Department of Labor announced on the 8th (local time) that the number of new unemployment claims last week was recorded at 840,000.
This marks a decrease for the second consecutive week, down by 9,000 from the previous week's 849,000. Last week's new unemployment claims slightly exceeded Bloomberg's market forecast of 820,000 based on expert surveys. The U.S. Department of Labor initially reported the previous week's claims as 837,000 but later revised it upward to 849,000.
