First Meeting of the Second Half Chairpersons of Gwangju City and Jeonnam Provincial Councils

On this day, the Gwangju and Jeonnam councils held a meeting at the Jeonnam Provincial Council, attended by Gwangju Metropolitan Council Chairman Kim Yong-jip, 1st and 2nd Vice Chairpersons Jo Seok-ho and Jeong Soon-ae, Chairman of the Council Steering Committee Jeong Mu-chang, Chairman of the Administration and Autonomy Committee Lee Hong-il, and Jeonnam Provincial Council Chairman Kim Han-jong, 1st and 2nd Vice Chairpersons Gu Bok-gyu and Kim Seong-il, Chairman of the Council Steering Committee Jeon Gyeong-seon, and Chairman of the Planning and Administration Committee Park Moon-ok.
They agreed to maintain continuous communication between the councils on regional issues such as the administrative integration of the city and province, which has emerged as the biggest issue in the local community, the relocation of the Gwangju military airport and civilian airport, and the second phase of relocating public institutions to local areas, while actively collecting opinions from the citizens of the city and province and cooperating on a broad scale.
Kim Yong-jip, Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, said, “I think it is very meaningful that the two councils, which are representative bodies of the citizens of Gwangju and Jeonnam, have opened the channel of communication to discuss regional issues,” and added, “From now on, let us communicate frequently without being bound by formalities and closely discuss ways to promote joint regional development and improve the quality of life for the citizens of the city and province.”
