Gwangju Dong-gu, 'Saekdong Hanbok Collaboration' Exhibition at Chungjang22 from 14th to 20th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 8th that from the 14th to the 20th, a ‘Saekdong Hanbok Collaboration’ exhibition, featuring designers who love hanbok and university students, will be held at the ‘Chungjang22’ multipurpose exhibition hall and cafe space.
The exhibition, held under the theme ‘Wearing Fashion with Saekdong - Rediscovering Hanbok in Downtown Gwangju,’ will showcase over 40 hanbok-related fashion items such as traditional saekdong hanbok, which best expresses Korea’s traditional clothing culture, as well as bags and accessories that capture the sensibility of hanbok while fitting modern lifestyles.
This exhibition, planned to revitalize the commercial district of the hanbok industry cluster in Chungjang-ro 4-5 ga, will feature works from 17 members of the Dong-gu Masters and Artisans Association (Chairman Jeon Byeong-won), further enhancing the saekdong hanbok display.
In particular, the meeting of saekdong hanbok reinterpreted with the young sensibility of university students and the works of Dong-gu masters?who have inherited unique skills and traditions with craftsmanship spirit in fields such as fashion, metal crafts, and beauty for over 30 to 60 years and gained nationwide fame?is expected to enrich this exhibition even more.
