Gwangju City Provides Temporary 'Emergency Living Expenses' Support for Low-Income Crisis Households
For Low-Income Crisis Households... Online and Offline Applications Accepted Until the 30th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 7th that it will provide temporary "Emergency Living Expenses" support for low-income crisis households that do not receive benefits from existing welfare systems or COVID-19 support projects.
The support targets households whose income has decreased by 25% or more due to COVID-19-related unemployment, business suspension, or wage reduction, making living difficult, and who meet all three conditions: below 75% of the median income (1-person household 1.31 million KRW, 4-person household 3.56 million KRW), property below 600 million KRW, and other criteria.
Gwangju City will calculate the number of household members based on the resident registration information as of September 9 this year and plans to support those who meet the crisis recognition criteria, such as those whose labor or business income has decreased by 25% or more compared to before COVID-19, and those who have finished receiving job-seeking benefits due to unemployment and are currently unemployed as of September 30.
The income reduction criteria can be selected based on the most favorable comparison among the recent (July-September 2020) monthly or average income and ▲2019 monthly average income ▲2019 July-September monthly or average income ▲2020 January-June average income.
However, those receiving livelihood benefits for the same purpose from other programs are excluded. In other words, basic livelihood security recipients receiving living expenses, emergency welfare support recipients, emergency employment stabilization subsidies, and small business owners receiving New Hope Fund cannot receive this emergency support.
Applicants will be reviewed and provided cash support next month according to household size: 400,000 KRW for 1-person households, 600,000 KRW for 2-person households, 800,000 KRW for 3-person households, and 1,000,000 KRW for households of 4 or more.
Applications can be made online or offline until the 30th. Non-face-to-face applications can be made through the "Bokjiro" website starting from the 12th, and offline applications will be available at the local administrative welfare centers from the 19th.
