Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, School Kitchen Staff Recruitment
1 Teacher per 140 Preschool and Elementary Students, 1 Teacher per 130 Middle, High, and Special School Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 7th that it has decided to lower the placement standard for cooking assistants from the current one per 150 students to one per 140 students in kindergarten and elementary schools, and one per 130 students in middle, high, and special schools, thereby supplementing about 180 personnel.
This measure aims to improve the quality of school meals and the working environment of cooking assistants by lowering the staffing standards to ensure their safety and reduce labor intensity.
With this decision by the Provincial Office of Education, the working environment for school meal staff at frontline schools in Jeonnam Province will improve, enabling efficient personnel management to enhance students' satisfaction with school meals.
Additionally, the office believes the significance of this measure lies in reducing the workload per person for cooking assistants, who have a high proportion of elderly workers, thereby improving the work environment exposed to various industrial accident risks, including musculoskeletal disorders.
The Office of Education plans to conduct transfers within the city or county or exchanges outside the jurisdiction if there is an excess of personnel due to a decrease in the number of students or school consolidations.
