Gurye-gun Selected for National Funding in 'Tourism Special Zone Revitalization Support Project' Competition
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 6th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it was finally selected for the 'Tourism Special Zone Revitalization Support Project' contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This contest targeted 26 tourism special zones excluding Seoul and Jeju Island, and after the first document screening and the second presentation screening, Gurye-gun was finally selected.
Through this selection, Gurye-gun secured a project budget of 1.5 billion KRW (750 million KRW in national funds).
The Tourism Special Zone Revitalization Support Project is a contest project promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote the attraction of domestic and foreign tourists and to grow as a tourism hub by developing and fostering attractive tourism content and expanding tourism convenience infrastructure.
This contest project plans to revitalize the stagnant Jirisan Oncheon tourist area through the creation of an experiential water play facility using hot spring water within the Jirisan Oncheon tourist site in Sandong-myeon, development of Sansuyu tourism content, and hosting the Gurye Sansuyu Wellness Festival.

County Governor Kim Sun-ho said, "Through this contest project, we will develop tourism products that can attract tourists as well as generate residents' income and create jobs through the revitalization of the tourism special zone and research and development of Sansuyu tourism content," and added, "We will do our best to revitalize the Jirisan Oncheon area and the local tourism industry, which have been struggling due to COVID-19 and other difficulties."
