The county will purchase land and buildings of two parcels (3,818㎡) including Cheonghae Market with a project cost of 6 billion KRW (entirely national funds) by next year to create a multipurpose parking lot.
The location where the multipurpose parking lot will be established is the downtown area where Wando Post Office is located. Due to the lack of parking spaces, there had been significant inconvenience for vehicle and resident traffic, and this project is expected to help relieve traffic congestion and resident inconvenience.
This year, the county plans to create a temporary parking lot with 60 parking spaces by purchasing the Gunnae-ri Gateball Court and Cheonghae Market buildings and land, and next year, it plans to purchase the land at Gunnae-ri 782-72 to build a parking lot.
Shin Woo-cheol, Wando County Governor, said, “We will carry out the multipurpose parking lot project without delay to ensure smooth vehicle flow and safe passage for residents, and we will continue to strive to improve the parking environment.”
Meanwhile, Cheonghae Market opened in 1983 but has gradually lost its market function, and the building became old, so Wando County purchased it last February.
