Seoul City to Complete Influenza Vaccination for All Firefighters by Year-End
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 6th that it will complete influenza (flu) vaccination for all firefighters by the end of this year to manage their health.
Regarding flu vaccination, Seoul has included it as a basic item in the annual health checkups for firefighters. Additionally, a pilot project for pneumococcal vaccination was completed by the end of last month for 171 employees working at the Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
Pneumococcal and influenza vaccines are designated as mandatory vaccinations under the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.

Shin Yeol-woo, head of the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "In the prolonged situation of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), we are taking proactive measures to prevent infectious diseases among firefighters who are performing duties such as transporting suspected patients," adding "We will ensure thorough COVID-19 field response through special health management for firefighters."
