Tmon "64% of Parents Positive About School Reopening"
Survey on Second Semester School Attendance for Over 500 Parents
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] TMON announced on the 5th that 64% of respondents answered positively in a survey conducted on more than 500 parents regarding the second semester school reopening.
The survey was conducted over a week starting from the 26th of last month, targeting more than 500 parents. Among the respondents, 64% were positive about the school reopening, and more than half of them, 52%, answered that reopening was essential for "building peer relationships and normalizing academics." Positive responses also included "reducing concerns about academic gaps (8%)" and "it was tough, but it's good now (4%)." Meanwhile, 35% responded that they would prefer to continue online classes.
The personal hygiene item considered most necessary for school reopening was "masks" (31%). Among these, demand for KF-certified masks was the highest at 43%, followed by KF-AD (24%) and dental masks (16%). Besides masks, respondents also indicated the need for personal hygiene products such as personal water bottles (20%), portable hand sanitizers (17%), and hand cleansers (14%).
The preparation cost for school reopening was less than 100,000 KRW for 72% of respondents, which was lower compared to online class preparation costs. Half of the respondents (50%) reported spending more than 100,000 KRW on online class preparations, with 27% spending over 300,000 KRW. This is attributed to the purchase of high-priced electronic devices such as headsets (21%), laptops (19%), tablets (13%), and webcams (11%) for online classes.
Given the high demand for masks, the need for special discounts was also the highest. Thirty-nine percent of respondents wanted to buy masks at special prices. Demand for special discounts on portable hand sanitizers (15%), disinfectant wipes (14%), and thermometers (12%) followed.
