With this, Kumho Tire has succeeded in winning awards at all four major global design awards this year.
Celebrating its 63rd anniversary this year, the Good Design Award is the most prestigious international design competition hosted by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JIDPO). The ‘G-Mark’ is awarded to winning works based on a comprehensive evaluation of product design, usability, and innovation. The judging categories include five areas: product, space, media, system, and solution. Kumho Tire’s products won the main prize in the transportation equipment and industrial facilities category.
The SOLUS HA32, which won this time, is a Europe-exclusive all-season tire that guarantees stable driving and braking performance throughout all seasons. By applying advanced new material compounds and a V-shaped pattern with a three-dimensional sip pattern design, it can handle all-season weather conditions including wet roads, snowy roads, and slushy surfaces where ice has slightly melted. The sidewall features an all-season icon and a hologram decoration that changes appearance depending on the angle of light, creating a differentiated design. This product also won an award in the transportation equipment category at this year’s German Red Dot Design Award.
The Winter Portran CW11 is optimized for icy road surfaces in Europe’s extreme regions. It is a product for multipurpose and commercial vehicles that delivers optimized driving performance on snowy and especially icy roads during winter. The tread pattern with reinforced center blocks and a high-strength belt structure enhances braking performance and driving stability. The center and shoulder use a zigzag groove design to improve drainage performance and snow traction. From a design perspective, a 3D ice crystal-shaped decoration design is implemented on the product’s shoulder.
