[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) conducted disinfection and water cleaning at major locations such as Gwanghwamun Square and Jonggak Station from 6 p.m. on the 3rd.
The district carried out disinfection and sterilization around major locations within the district, including Gwanghwamun Square, Jonggak Station, Gyeongbokgung Station, Kyobo Building, and the Seoul Museum of History, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area due to large gatherings at the National Foundation Day rally.
About 60 people, including the 'Jongno-gu Disinfection Team' composed of residents who have been steadily active since the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak and disinfection personnel from the Jongno-gu Public Health Center, were mobilized for the disinfection. Two water cleaning vehicles were also deployed for water cleaning.
To respond to the National Foundation Day rally scheduled for that day, the district established a cooperative system with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the police, jointly responding by notifying the rally organizing groups of the assembly ban.
Additionally, an emergency response team was formed and deployed to locations expected to gather many people, such as Gyeongbokgung Station, Sejongno Park, and Bosingak, to monitor compliance with quarantine rules and respond on-site together with the police.
