Jang Je-won: "No Next Presidential Candidate in the Opposition... All Eyes on 'Kim Jong-in's Search for Talent'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party, lamented the reality that "there is no overwhelmingly prominent next presidential candidate in the opposition" and that all attention is focused on Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman's 'search for a figure.'
On the 2nd, Jang said on Facebook, "If Chairman Kim appoints someone, do the people line up?"
He said, "As Chuseok approaches, various poll results are being announced, but there is still no overwhelmingly prominent next presidential candidate in the opposition," adding, "It seems that the media's attention is entirely focused on 'Kim Jong-in's search for a figure.' It is not just regrettable, but despairing."
Jang said, "The political scene's Baek Jong-won is nowhere to be found, the 2-3 'dreamers' are completely silent, the first-term lawmakers with plans show no movement, and there is no 40s economic expert to be found even if you look closely," adding, "The emergency committee chairman, who should create the stage and set the scene to bring the people to the judges' seats, is sitting in the judges' chair." This was a critique of Chairman Kim's past remarks referring to a suitable presidential candidate as 'someone like Baek Jong-won' and saying 'there are people wriggling.'
He also checked Kim's solo leadership. He pointed out, "The manager, not the main character, is standing in the center of the stage. The actors are bare-faced, but the manager is wearing makeup," and "How can the actors, who are far from the camera and microphone, stand out?"
He said, "Why does the media pay great attention to a stage created by a non-mainstream politician like me? It is probably because the party is not creating a stage for the next presidential candidates," emphasizing, "KBS brought back the hero Na Hoon-a after 15 years, and TV Chosun connected Lee Mi-ja, Jang Yoon-jung, and Lim Young-woong, continuing the lineage of trot music. All this was possible because there was a stage," urging the party to strive to prepare a stage for the next presidential candidates.

Jang expressed concern, saying, "Since Chairman Kim took office, I have persistently argued that cameras and microphones should be shared," and "Since the by-elections and presidential election, on which the survival of the conservative opposition depends, are at stake, I worry whether we are entrusting our fate entirely to one person."
