[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The number of viewers who watched the first face-off between U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was the third highest in the history of U.S. presidential candidate TV debates.
Despite criticism over the two individuals' harsh remarks and interruptions, the debate itself succeeded in capturing viewers' attention.
According to Nielsen Media Research on the 1st (local time), the number of viewers for the U.S. presidential TV debate held on the 29th of last month was counted at 73.1 million, ranking third in terms of viewership.
By broadcaster, Fox News, a conservative-leaning channel frequently watched by President Trump, had the highest viewership at 17.8 million. CNN, which President Trump harshly criticizes as fake news, had 8.29 million viewers.
