During the inspection, Commissioner Noh urged customs officials to operate a 24-hour customs clearance support system to ensure that fresh agricultural, marine, and livestock products, as well as urgent raw materials such as automotive parts, can be cleared quickly ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
He also checked the export sites using aircraft converted from idle passenger planes to cargo planes for semiconductors, medical devices, and other goods, reviewing the support status for the aviation industry. The converted cargo planes operate by installing specially manufactured dedicated transport containers in the passenger seats to load cargo.
Previously, the Korea Customs Service identified difficulties faced by the aviation industry and supported the use of idle passenger planes as cargo planes, allowed in-flight meals supplied to international flights to be delivered to domestic catering companies, and simplified various procedures to reduce administrative costs.
