View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 28th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Hussein Al Safadi to discuss cooperation measures regarding the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the selection of the next Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Both ministers acknowledged that their two countries recently faced a new challenge with the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases and agreed to overcome difficulties together through close quarantine cooperation.
They shared the importance of securing sufficient COVID-19 vaccines and their equitable distribution and agreed to actively participate in the international community's efforts.
Support for Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee was also requested. Minister Kang emphasized that Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee, who advanced to the second round of the next WTO Director-General selection, is an expert with extensive trade experience spanning from developing to developed countries, and requested Jordan's support. In response, Minister Al Safadi highly evaluated Minister Yoo's outstanding capabilities.
