Gurye-gun Wins 'Excellence Award' in Local Government Productivity Competition
Among 28 Best Livable Local Governments, Top Evaluation and No.1 in County Level
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 28th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it received the Grand Prize (Prime Minister's Commendation) at the '2020 Local Government Productivity Awards' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected 28 cities nationwide as the best places to live through this evaluation.
Among them, Gurye-gun received the highest evaluation and ranked first among county-level local governments. Dong-gu, Gwangju received the grand prize, and the excellence awards by city, county, and district went to Gwangyang-si, Suseong-gu in Daejeon, and Gurye-gun.
The productivity evaluation is designed to gauge the comprehensive administrative capabilities of local governments. It is divided into measuring the 'productivity index' based on scores from 26 indicators and selecting 'excellent productivity cases' in four areas: inclusive society, environmental safety, citizen community, and win-win economy. Approximately 170 cities, counties, and districts voluntarily applied.
Gurye-gun attracted attention by increasing its total fertility rate by 53.51% compared to last year amid a serious low birthrate situation. In addition, it received high evaluations in the resident health sector for excellent management of local residents' depression and stress, earning the honor of the 'Excellence Award.'
