US Strengthens 'China Criticism' Citing Environmental Issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The United States is intensifying its "China bashing" by raising China's responsibility for global environmental issues.
On the 25th (local time), the U.S. Department of State issued a lengthy statement criticizing China's environmental misuse, strengthening its offensive on environmental issues.
In the statement, the U.S. Department of State presented data on China's greenhouse gas emissions, wildlife trafficking, and illegal fishing. The statement came shortly after Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged at the United Nations General Assembly to drastically reduce China's carbon emissions.
The U.S. Department of State criticized, "China is developing natural resources in an unsustainable manner and spreading intentional disregard for the environment to other countries through the Belt and Road Initiative (一帶一路: overland and maritime Silk Road), threatening the global economy and global health."
