Jongno-gu Hosts 'Inmunjongno Reading Management Event' for Communication Through Books
Reading Talk Talk Concert Held on the 28th: Awards for Outstanding Book Reports and Reading Kings Sharing Their Reading Know-How
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is hosting the 'Humanities Jongno Reading Management Event' to foster an organizational culture of communication and growth through books, holding a book report contest and a reading concert.
This reading management event is part of a 'non-face-to-face education program' designed to supplement group training sessions that were canceled or postponed due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. It was planned to help enhance employees' creativity, strengthen work capabilities, and alleviate fatigue.
Earlier, in August, the district conducted a book report contest for all district office employees under the themes 'Precious Things We Have Forgotten' and 'The Sparkling Moments of My Life.'
A total of 34 employees participated, submitting 37 book reports. After first and second rounds of judging, the grand prize was awarded to 'Me Before You,' and the excellence awards went to three reports including 'Cosmos' and 'The Housekeeper of the Dead,' which were selected as the final outstanding works.
The award ceremony and presentation of the outstanding works will be held in conjunction with the Reading Talk Talk Concert on the 28th.
In the first part of the concert, following the award ceremony by Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno-gu, the winners will participate in a free presentation lasting about 10 minutes each. It is designed as a time to comfort each other, exhausted by COVID-19, and to reflect on precious values that have been forgotten. In the second part, senior reading champions of Jongno-gu will share their personal reading methods, reasons for reading, and recommended books with their juniors.
In addition, Jongno-gu continuously strives for organizational and individual growth by practicing learning and sharing based on reading management.
To establish a systematic reading management system in the workplace, the district operates 'Continuous Reading Learning,' which supported reading activities for over 1,100 people last year.
It also runs various support programs to foster a reading culture in the workplace, such as 'Book Recommendations of the Month' and 'Donated Book Sharing Exhibition.'
Furthermore, these efforts have been recognized, earning the district certification for 'Excellent Workplace in Reading Management' from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019.
This year, in addition to expanding book support, the district introduced the 'Saga Reading Learning System,' operating diverse continuous reading learning courses that received positive responses from employees. Currently, it has been selected as an award-winning institution in the 7th Reading Management Excellent Workplace Certification in 2020, with the final award ranking announcement pending.
