Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the seminar was conducted via an online video conference.
The seminar was attended by Han Young-su, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Government Legislation, and Fadransyah Lubis, Deputy Assistant Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat, among others.
Before the seminar began, representatives from both sides signed the '2020-2021 Implementation Plan.' This is a subordinate agreement detailing the specific implementation measures of the Memorandum of Understanding on legislative cooperation signed in September 2018.
The implementation plan focuses on cooperation in areas such as ▲establishing a unified legislative professional institution in Indonesia ▲strengthening the capacity of legislative officials ▲building a legislative information system.
Through the seminar, the two organizations discussed various and practical ways to expand legislative cooperation, including education for Indonesian public officials and the establishment and operation of regular meetings.
Indonesia is currently promoting the establishment of a unified legislative professional institution modeled after the Ministry of Government Legislation. The seminar shared the progress and explored possible cooperation matters in the establishment and operation of the legislative professional institution.
Deputy Minister Han Young-su said, "I am pleased to sign the '2020-2021 Implementation Plan' and hold the video seminar, enabling us to expand legislative exchange and cooperation between the two countries," adding, "Let us work together to strengthen legislative capabilities."
