A Cheil Worldwide official stated, “While contemplating how to connect the symbolism of ‘recovery’ associated with Korea’s fatigue recovery brand Bacchus to ‘social and psychological recovery,’ we chose the story of Yongmun Traditional Market, where tradition and youth meet to regain vitality.”
Yongmun Traditional Market, located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, which opened in 1948 and boasts a history of over 70 years, faced difficulties like many traditional markets amid changes in the distribution environment such as online shopping. However, led by young merchants, all the merchants united to breathe youthful energy into the market, resulting in the revitalization of not only the market but also the local commercial district.
This advertisement, which contains the actual story of Yongmun Traditional Market, features the market revitalization leader, Merchants’ Association representative Kim Gyesu (40), along with other Yongmun Market merchants, enhancing authenticity. Mr. Kim was selected as one of the “8 Seoul Merchants” by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2019 for his contributions to revitalizing Yongmun Traditional Market.
