Life Insurance Foundation Delivers 18 Types of 'Health Kits' to Vulnerable Elderly
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] The Life Insurance Social Contribution Foundation announced on the 24th that it delivered Chuseok gifts for low-income elderly people who have to spend Chuseok alone amid the encouragement of contactless holidays to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19.
The Life Insurance Foundation added "COVID-19 prevention supplies" considering the difficulties faced by elderly users of welfare institutions who spend Chuseok alone during the holiday period and cannot have meals on time due to long-term closures of welfare institutions caused by COVID-19, as well as the safety of the elderly vulnerable to infection. In April, when social distancing was implemented, the foundation delivered emergency support supplies to about 1,000 vulnerable elderly people, low-income and multicultural family children to minimize care gaps and help recovery to a stable daily life.
This health supplement kit consists of "groceries" for elderly people who cannot use welfare centers and cannot prepare meals, "health supplements" such as probiotics to help strengthen immunity, and "dental masks," which are infection prevention and medical consumables. The support supplies, filled with a total of 18 items, will be provided from today to about 540 elderly people using the "Life Forest 100-Year Healing Center," which supports the independence of elderly men living alone, and the "Life Forest Memory Care School," which provides welfare services for elderly people with mild dementia.
Lee Jong-seo, chairman of the Life Insurance Foundation, said, "Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, it is difficult to visit welfare centers, and there is no contact between families, so elderly people have to spend a difficult holiday on top of everything else. We prepared items necessary to boost immunity," adding, "The Life Insurance Foundation will do its best to help the health and safety of the elderly so that COVID-19 does not cause further damage."
