[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Singer Jang Jae-in responded to netizens' support after confessing to sexual violence and shared her feelings.
On the 22nd, Jang Jae-in posted on her Instagram story, "It's really hard after actually speaking out. My heart is restless, but I'm trying to calm myself by reading the comments. I'm just thankful."
She said, "(Usually) I try not to leave many posts because I worry I might seem complicated, but today I am writing a lot," adding, "Will I regret today? I think not anymore."
She continued, "By bringing up the story, it feels like the walls that secretly existed between me and my friends have been broken down, and I feel like I've gained roots I never dared to expect," and said, "Let's not add shame to such incidents anymore."
Earlier, Jang Jae-in had confessed to past sexual violence on her Instagram. She began, "I am posting this to celebrate the improvement from consistent psychological therapy, like a good night's sleep. My first seizure was at 17, and at 18, due to an incident I don't want to mention, severe anxiety, seizures, breathing difficulties, insomnia, anorexia, and binge eating started to follow."
She revealed, "Although I said I was getting treatment, finding the right doctor was not easy, and at that time, going to the hospital was considered a big flaw, so the treatment was even worse. Also, the environment I lived in probably played a big role in the symptoms."
