Martial Arts, Hosts 'Han-Ro Business Dialogue'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) held the "12th Korea-Russia Business Dialogue" online on the 22nd, jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and Roscongress, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Korea-Russia diplomatic relations.
The event, co-chaired by KITA Chairman Kim Young-joo and Sergey Katrin, Chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was attended by Park Ki-young, Deputy Minister for Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Alexander Morozov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, as well as representatives from SK Bioscience, KT, Hyundai Motor Company, United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), Yandex, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Far Eastern Federal University, and others.
Chairman Kim Young-joo stated, "Economic cooperation between the two countries has been closely promoted centered on manufacturing and infrastructure industries, as Korea's New Northern Policy and Russia's New Eastern Policy align," adding, "Since both countries have advanced technologies in IT and bio sectors, we can pursue mutual growth through cooperation in new fields amid the changing global market order after the pandemic."
Chairman Sergey Katrin said, "Korea is one of the most important partner countries in the Asian region," and added, "Although there are many physical restrictions due to the pandemic, we will continue efforts to support exchanges between companies and discover new cooperative projects through the Korea-Russia Business Dialogue."
Park Ki-young, Deputy Minister for Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, "At a time when the global value chain map is rapidly changing after the COVID-19 pandemic and non-face-to-face innovative industries and the digital economy are emerging, the potential for cooperation between companies of the two countries in new industries such as future vehicles, bio, and materials, parts, and equipment is limitless," adding, "The government will also support the expansion of government and private cooperation channels and will spare no effort to support face-to-face exchanges such as assisting businesspeople's departures as the COVID-19 situation improves."

The attendees shared the achievements of economic cooperation between the two countries over the past 30 years since establishing diplomatic relations and discussed cooperation plans in manufacturing sectors such as automobiles and shipbuilding, building quarantine response systems using information and communication technology (ICT), and cooperation in new industries including COVID-19 vaccine development and production.
