President Moon Jae-in is delivering a keynote speech via video at the 75th United Nations General Assembly held at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA, on the morning of the 23rd (Korean time).
President Moon Jae-in said on the morning of the 23rd (local time), "Even amid the crisis of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), we must strengthen multilateralism based on solidarity and cooperation, as well as a rules-based free trade order."
In his keynote speech at the 75th United Nations General Assembly general debate held at the UN headquarters in New York, USA, President Moon stated, "It is indeed an extremely difficult task, but we must catch two rabbits at once: quarantine and the economy."
President Moon said, "Economic shocks are hitting us like a tsunami after an earthquake," and assessed, "The closure of borders for quarantine and the contraction of human and material exchanges have made the recovery of the global economy even more difficult."
In his speech themed "International Cooperation with Enhanced Inclusiveness," President Moon emphasized, "To strengthen inclusiveness that leads to a sustainable economic structure, we must break the formula that 'crisis means deepening inequality' and achieve an 'economic recovery where no one is left behind.'"
President Moon said, "Korea has been striving to maintain global supply chains and facilitate the movement of essential personnel such as businesspeople," and added, "Korea will share its development experience with developing countries and actively participate in the international community's efforts to achieve the United Nations' 'Sustainable Development Goals.'"
