National Ballet Company Releases Ballet Class Videos Online Every Wednesday
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The National Ballet Company will release ballet class videos every Wednesday through its official YouTube channel.
The National Ballet Company stated that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for home training (home workouts) has significantly increased, and they will introduce ballet movements that can be done together at home.
The videos to be released this time are the online version of the public service project "Visiting Ballet Class," which the National Ballet Company has conducted annually. These basic ballet class videos are designed for ballet majors, hobbyist ballet dancers, and the general public who enjoy home training, and will also reveal the know-how of the National Ballet Company's ballet masters and company members.
The first video, to be released on the 23rd, features a class by Park Il, ballet master of the National Ballet Company, and soloist Ha Ji-seok. It will openly share the class that the company members practice every morning, from barre movements that build basic ballet skills to center movements where techniques such as turns and jumps can be learned.
In the following videos, ballet master Ahn Hyo-jin, who recently started a new role after 12 years as a company member, will work with principal dancer Park Ye-eun, and guest ballet master Shin Hye-jin will prepare a toe-work class for wearing pointe shoes with demi-soloist Shim Hyun-hee.
Not only the ballet masters but also the company members will participate. Company member Seon Ho-hyun filmed a class video with Shim Hyun-hee, and Kim Na-yeon filmed with Lee Ha-yeon; these videos are scheduled to be released in October. The National Ballet Company plans to release the videos sequentially and continuously produce and release additional videos reflecting public demand and requests.
