Seodaemun-gu Decides 2021 District Administration Direction Focusing on Local Economy Recovery
Focused Regional Economic Recovery, Successful Completion of Core Projects, Strategic Business Completion as a Leading Local Government for Future Preparedness, and Establishment of '5 Major Action Plans' Including Regional Economic Recovery and Innovation Model Discovery... 2021 Major Work Plan Reporting Meeting Held to Enhance Execution (9.17~9.25)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced on the 22nd that it has set the 2021 district administration operation directions as ▲Focused recovery of the local economy ▲Successful completion of key projects of the 7th elected term ▲A leading local government preparing for a sustainable future.
To proactively respond to the COVID-19 crisis and the changes thereafter, the district has also established five major action plans: ▲Establishment of an emergency crisis response system ▲Presentation of policy directions (linking with national projects such as the Korean New Deal) ▲Completion of strategic projects (pledges and key projects) ▲Focused recovery of the local economy (expansionary fiscal operation) ▲Discovery of innovative models (leading local government).
With the presidential and local elections scheduled for the first half of 2022, the last six months of the 7th elected term, the goal is to make 2021 a practical year for completing the 7th term.
Despite the COVID-19 situation this year, the district has strived to reflect changes of the era such as non-face-to-face, the new normal, and the 4th Industrial Revolution in the 2021 tasks for each sector.
Specifically, in July this year, a total of 35 projects related to digital, green, safety net, and convergence linked to national strategic projects such as the Korean New Deal were derived, and 31 New Deal-related proposals were also discovered through employee idea contests.
Through this process, the ‘Seodaemun-type New Deal projects’ including support for school TAs (Teaching Assistants), data dam construction, and job creation were incorporated into the major work plans of related departments for 2021.
To further specify these project goals, from the 17th to the 25th of this month, the district office’s planning situation room is holding major work plan reporting meetings chaired by Mayor Moon Seok-jin.
At these meetings, each department reports to the mayor on this year’s project progress as well as next year’s policy project goals, implementation tasks, and detailed plans, and receives feedback.
The district’s major work plans for next year total 463, and after the reporting meetings, a finalized plan reflecting additions, revisions, and project budgets will be produced.
