Damyang-gun Encourages 'Online Ancestral Rites' During Chuseok Holiday
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang County, Jeollanam-do (County Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 21st that, with the upcoming Chuseok holiday, approximately 40,000 visitors are expected to visit the county cemetery (Gaphyang, Oryong Park) and the Catholic Park Cemetery, and they are making every effort to promote refraining from visits by sending letters and text messages encouraging online memorial services.
The county operates a memorial period before and after the Chuseok holiday to prepare for the possibility of large crowds visiting simultaneously during Chuseok.
Letters requesting restraint from visiting have been sent to 4,142 cemetery users, and the “online memorial service methods” are being promoted through social networking services (SNS) and both online and offline channels.
In cases where visiting is unavoidable, guidelines such as wearing masks, prohibiting food entry (limiting table settings), restricting the number of people and memorial time, and closing rest areas will be provided.
