Ambassadors from 22 Participating Countries and UN Commander Receive 5 Types of Korean War Battlefront Specialty Products Including 'Incheon Landing Operation' and 'Nakdong River Defense Line' as Chuseok Gifts
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Marking the 70th Chuseok since the outbreak of the Korean War, Huh Chang-soo, Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), sent Chuseok greetings featuring specialty products from battle sites to ambassadors from the 22 countries that participated in the war and the United Nations (UN) Commander.
According to the FKI on the 21st, Chairman Huh prepared Chuseok gift sets of specialty products from major battle sites along with letters of gratitude to the ambassadors of the 22 countries that participated in the Korean War and the UN Commander.
In his letter, Chairman Huh said, "As the saying goes, 'May every day be like Chuseok,' Chuseok is the most abundant time of the year," and added, "During a time when exchanges are difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I hope that the homes of the ambassadors, who are spending the holiday far away in a foreign land, will be filled with the abundance and generosity of Chuseok," expressing his regards and wishing for their health.
He continued, "The Korean Peninsula, where fierce battles took place, has, even after 70 years, borne bountiful fruits this year as well despite various disasters such as viruses, floods, and typhoons," and expressed gratitude for the freedom and prosperity preserved through the noble sacrifices of the young people from the countries that participated in the war.
This Chuseok gift set of Korean agricultural products consists of five specialty items: red ginseng slices from the Incheon-Ganghwa area, known for the Incheon Landing Operation; pine nuts from Gapyeong, a site of multiple fierce battles; rice from Gyeonggi Province, the center of the fiercest battles during the Korean War; deodeok syrup from Gangwon Province; and apples from Gyeongbuk in the Nakdong River basin, the last stronghold. The set includes introductions to each region and specialty product, along with explanations on how foreigners can easily enjoy them.
