[Breaking] After One Month... Students in the Seoul Metropolitan Area Resume School Attendance Starting Today
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] = The return to school for kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students in the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon areas will resume after about a month.
According to the Ministry of Education on the 21st, full remote classes for kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the metropolitan area ended last week, and from today, in-person and remote classes will be conducted simultaneously.
It is the first time in 27 days since full remote classes began after the last in-person classes on the 25th of last month that school gates in the metropolitan area will open simultaneously.
Earlier, as the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) intensified mainly in the metropolitan area, the Ministry of Education implemented full remote classes for kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools (except for 3rd-year high school students) in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon.
The full remote class period in the metropolitan area was initially extended once from the 11th to the 20th of this month, but it was not postponed further after the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH) eased social distancing in the metropolitan area from level 2.5 to level 2 on the 13th.
